PD Classic - Commemorative SF Giants 2010 World Series Win
"After 52 years of waiting, San Francisco Giants faithful exploded in joy and vindication that reverberated Monday from Arlington, Texas to Ocean Beach.
Powered by the dominating performance of their scraggly, undersized star pitcher and the out-of-nowhere hitting of a part-time player, this band of self-described castoffs and misfits defeated the Texas Rangers, 3-1, to capture the franchise’s first World Series since 1954, four years before they abandoned New York for San Francisco.
Just like that, a team of youngsters and aging role players did what some of the sports’ greatest names — Willie Mays, Juan Marichal, Willie McCovey and yes, Barry Bonds — could not do. They brought a championship and baseball respectability to San Francisco. And they did it by throttling a powerhouse team in five games, a team that was supposed to make short work of them."
